Introduction

Volya Films is a Rotterdam based production company, established in 2004 by producer Denis Vaslin and director Ineke Smits. Volya produces author fiction films, creative documentaries and experimental movies.

The company develops projects with both young as well as more experienced filmmakers by offering them active support.

Volya Films also develops European and international co-productions. These productions have premiered in most of the major film festivals in Europe such as IDFA, Berlinale, Cannes, Rotterdam Film Festival and Cinema du Reel.

08/06/2009 Transit Dubai will be premiering on TV in IKON's Holland Doc section, 2 July on Nederland 2 (Dutch public TV).

27/04/2009 Transit Dubai has won the Public's Choice award at the Gdansk Doc Film Festival 2009 in Gdansk; the jury also gave an honorable mention to Jack, the Balkans & I.

26/04/2009 Border has won the Silver Remi award at the WorldFest Independent International Film Festival 2009 in Houston.

25/04/2009 Transit Dubai is screening in the competition program of the Gdansk Doc Film Festival 2009 in Gdansk.
