Kurai, Kurai - Tales with the Wind

A withered, thorny, uprooted, bush rolls over the bare steppe. It’s a kurai – better known in the West as tumbleweed. It appears to be dead. But in the land of the koeraaj nothing is what it seems.

An old woman – is it the woman who crossed the screen on her camel in the distance? – tells how the kurai can still surprise even her – who has lived here already for so long. Not so much because – just when he looks so very dead – he’s as virile as a young man, and during his journey over the plain leaves his seed everywhere, thousands a kilometer. But more because he brings messages from far away. The kurai has been everywhere and everywhere he keeps his ear to the ground. He has taken something with him and left something behind. Thus he tells his tales, tales of the wind. To whoever wants to listen.
